Our tea has never tasted so good

Our friends Lauren and Pete asked us to play two songs at their wedding a couple of weeks ago. It was at a lovely venue in the middle of Ecclesall woods. While they signed the register, we attempted an Allo Darlin’ cover and then played our song about Sheffield.

As a thank you we were most excited to be each presented with our very own Robberie mug – how cool is that! Our tea at band practice never tasted so good.

We’re not now playing at the Rutland tomorrow

We’re sorry to say that we now won’t be playing Acoustic Loveliness at the Rutland on Saturday night. We decided to pull out of this performance in the end. We’ve got some more gigs planned later in the summer and hope to get something sorted as soon as possible so watch this space and we will let you know when anything is confirmed.

We are playing at Indietracks festival!

In what is by far the most exciting thing that has happened to us as a band, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been asked to play at Indietracks festival this summer. Of course we said YES straight away.

Indietracks takes place on the weekend of 6-8 July. We’ll be playing on Saturday 7 on a stage which is located on a moving steam train! Having played on the 2011 Tramlines Busker Bus so luckily we’re no strangers to performing on public transport.

If you don’t know much about it, Indietracks is an indiepop festival based at The Midland Railway Centre in Derbyshire. One of our favourite bands, Allo’ Darlin’, are headlining and there lots of other good bands/DJs, including some of our friends from Sheffield.

These words from our friend Pete, cut and paste from The Guardian, tell you pretty much all you need to know about Indietracks:

At normal festivals, punters have to abandon bottles and cans on the way in. At Indietracks you do that with your cynicism. This is a place where the pluggers and careerists and parasites of the music industry hold no sway: no corporate banners sponsor your blissful shamble dancing and every chord and smile ring fresh as a dew-beaded daisy at dawn. It’s all ages, it’s three stages, it’s steam trains, it’s beer that actually tastes nice, it’s why indiepop is right and the NME is always wrong. In fittingly humble Derbyshire, for three days in July, it’s a tiny utopia.

As you can see, it all sounds lovely. You should come too!

We’re playing at the Rutland Arms (again)

Update 18 May: we’re now not playing at this anymore

We had a brilliant time playing at the Sparklecoustic all dayer in February and are now pleased to confirm we’ll be playing again at the Rutland Arms in Sheffield next month.

This time its as part of the Acoustic Loveliness night on Saturday 19 May. It will be FREE to get in and there’ll be some other people/bands playing too.

Free acoustic loveliness upstairs on a Saturday night plus the Rutland’s tasty beer and food (halloumi burgers all round for us, please) sounds like a very appetising mix so should it be a great evening.

It may also be the live debut of Nik’s new toy which you obviously don’t want to miss! We can’t wait.

Acoustic all-dayer at the Rutland Arms

We’re very excited to have been asked to play at the Sparkle-coustic Sunday! event next month in Sheffield.

It is taking place on Sunday 19 February upstairs at one of Sheffield’s finest city centre pubs, The Rutland Arms. Eight bands are playing between 3pm to 9pm (ish), including Standard Fare and Pete Green. It is completely acoustic with no microphones or PA so it should be quite intimate.

We can’t wait. Thanks to Pete for organising it. It is a fiver on the door.

Thank you

Thanks to those that came to see us at The Green Room last week. Hopefully the sound problems (and our bad playing) weren’t too much of a distraction!

We’re next playing live on February 19th and will have more details soon.
