Our debut single has been out just over a week and we’ve been really pleased with the support it has been getting!
On Monday Steve Lamacq played Four seasons on his BBC 6 Music show. Typically, most of us missed it but thanks to the power of iPlayer it can be heard again online around 1 hour 44 minutes in. Steve was also kind enough to give the My Little Owl Records label a big plug. After growing up listening to the Evening Session on Radio 1 in the 1990s while doing homework it was brilliant to hear his distinctive tones introducing a record of our own for the first time.
Before that, Joel Rigler from Sheffield Live had some kind words to say about Academical on his Saturday afternoon programme, The Breakdown. Our song is around 27 minutes in to the podcast for part one of the Saturday 31 August show. Plus, last night BBC Radio Sheffield, Christian Carlisle also gave Academical a play on his weekly BBC Introducing show.
To round off a good week for us, the the two-single deal (where you can get both our single and the Mini Skips 7″ single together) was also chosen as release of the week on the Indie Pop Saved My Life website.
Thank you to everyone who has already bought a copy of our record. You can still buy it online on 7″ vinyl with free download, or just as a download. We’d recommend the vinyl version as a thing of beauty! It’ll also be available at upcoming gigs – more news on those soon.
Love the 7″ it is so well mixed. Smooth and warm!
